INDIANAPOLIS — A road rage incident left an Army veteran in the hospital and it was all caught on camera.

The incident took place last week at Madison Avenue and Pleasant Run Parkway as 49-year-old James Yacconi was riding his new Harley-Davidson motorcycle. As he was traveling south on Madison Avenue, Yacconi noticed a problem with the car of a friend, who is a Lyft driver, and told him about it.

The driver of a white sedan was apparently annoyed by Yacconi's action and when the driver of that car got to a stop light he got out of his car. Yacconi got off his motorcycle and during the confrontation the man punched Yacconi and he went down.

"What was the reason for punching James? Why would you get so irritated to break someone's jaw," said one of Yacconi's friends who asked not to be identified. "It is one thing to exchange words when everybody is heated, but to exchange punches and take one punch and break someone's jaw that is disturbing."

Yacconi reportedly told friends the driver delivered the punch with brass knuckles.

Yacconi, an Army veteran of two tours in the Middle East, was on a ventilator at Methodist Hospital for a time because he suffered an asthma attack in addition to the broken jaw. He won't be able to work for six to eight weeks.
