INDIANAPOLIS — A Washington Township mom said ongoing issues with her son's school bus not arriving has created scary moments for parents and led to her child being late to school.

"It's not fair to the kids," she said. "It's worrisome. Ten, 15 minutes, you can expect that, but this morning, she was over an hour late. Nobody received any phone calls. It was me and a line of seven cars out here waiting for the bus."

The mom, who asked to not be identified, said the bus was so behind schedule it caused her son to miss the first hour of school. She left the bus stop along Fall Creek Parkway and drove her 9-year-old to school. She said she realizes other parents might not be able to do that.

"That’s the whole comfort of the transportation," she said. "You don’t have to find your kid a way to school or drop them off the bus is supposed to."

She said it is especially tough this time of year.

"There are little bitty kids. It's cold outside. Something needs to be done," she said.

The mom said this isn't the first time the bus has been late in the morning. She said it has been behind schedule after school, as well, creating scary moments for parents waiting to pick their kids up from t he bus stop.

"We are out here freaking out, 'What's going on? Where are the kids at?'" she said.

She said the transportation director called her after RTV6 got involved and said he would look into the problem and work to resolve it.

"I just want to know that the bus is going to come when it is supposed to come. It is going to drop my son off and if there's anything (wrong) that I will be notified," she said.
