INDIANAPOLIS — Kaylin Cole's family is still waiting for answers two years after someone murdered her.

The person who took Cole's life still hasn't been arrested, so on Friday, the 21-year-old's family members went to the Marion County Prosecutor's office to meet with the lead detective on the case and find out why there has not been more progress.

"She has two siblings here that are missing their big sister every day. She has her mother that misses her daughter every day," Cole's aunt, Keisha Smith, said.

Cole was killed in what police said was a domestic violence altercation on Nov. 15, 2017. She was found shot to death in a car near 1317 S. Senate Ave.

"It's not a day that I do not miss my daughter. Whoever you are, we are coming for you. We want you. I want you," Cole's mother, Kaniece Davidovic, said.

Cole's mother, along with family and community leaders met with Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department homicide detective Marcus Kennedy hoping to learn an arrest will be made soon. However, the prosecutor's office needs more evidence in order to file charges against a person of interest.

"We know who 'Rock' (the person of interest's nickname) is, but now it's just a matter of us getting a little bit more evidence to put the case together," Kennedy said.

"We are still at square one. We only know of a nickname. I'm not happy," Smith said.

IMPD said they need witnesses to come forward and tell the truth, but they aren't cooperating. Kennedy said it's likely because they are scared.

"We want to make sure that women understand this was a boyfriend. This was domestic violence. If you are dating someone make sure you don't just know their street name. Make sure you know they're full government name, so if something does happen we are able to prosecute them or get them in for questioning," Danyette Smith, founder of Silent No More, said.

Family members hope someone will come forward and help ease their pain.

"Especially for a wrong that was done with a man fatally shooting someone in the face, for whatever reason. We still don't know," Cole's uncle, Manious Willis, said

Kennedy said he plans to conduct more interviews in the coming weeks.

"We let the family know that we are doing everything we can to sure everything up so we can get charges filed and we can bring justice to the family," Kennedy said.

IMPD statistics show that 11 people have died this year as a result of domestic violence.
