SHELBYVILLE -- A Shelbyville funeral home is is delivering "care bags" to seniors who are at risk of leaving their homes because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The bags are being put together by the Glenn E. George & Son Funeral Home and contain some basic necessities such as canned food, toiletries, facial tissue, toilet paper and hand sanitizer.

Funeral Director Brent George says a "couple of hundred" bags have already been delivered. "Just trying to help our seniors out," said George. "We're just trying to help out the community and help out in a small way. We're going to deliver until we run out of supplies or the calls quit coming."

Seniors over 65 in the Shelbyville area can request a care bag by calling: 317-398-4599. Calls are accepted by the funeral home between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m.
