INDIANAPOLIS — Movies and concerts are coming back to parks across Indianapolis on a smaller scale beginning Friday.

Indy Parks will open its free Summer Concert and Movie Series at 9 p.m. Friday at Garfield Park with a screening of 2019's "The Lion King" in a drive-in setting.

Through Sept. 11, Indy Parks will show four movies and 16 concerts at Broad Ripple Park, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Park, Garfield Park and Eagle Creek Park.

Indy Parks has offered 70 concerts and movies in previous years, but the series is scaled back this year due to the COVID-19 pandemic, according to a press release.

Virtual performances will also be available on the Indy Parks YouTube channel.
