In a time when we can't all gather around a table, we can still come together as a community. We're Open Indy is a partnership between WRTV and our local restaurants and businesses with one goal: getting them through this tough time. Every day, we will help shine a light on the businesses that make up our community by telling their stories and rallying around those who are keeping the grills going, the hospitals running, and the businesses operating.

INDIANAPOLIS — Condado Tacos, situated in both the Mass Ave and Broad Ripple neighborhoods of Indianapolis, recently announced it is offering combo deals to serve communities during the coronavirus shutdowns better.

The Columbus, Ohio-based chain is offering a $10 "Bud Box" and a $99 "Build-Your-Own Taco box," that comes with all-ages coloring pages. Condado is well-known for its vibrant decor, so it's no wonder it would incorporate light-hearted fun.

"Art is a part of Condado's identity," Joe Kahn, the founder and CEO of Condado, said. "Each of our restaurants are covered with street art-style walls hand-painted by a team of local artists. We figured there's no better time to bring this fun Condado experience to everyone while couped up in their houses looking for activities!"

There are currently 16 Condado Tacos spread across Indiana, Ohio, Michigan and Pennsylvania. According to Condado's website, two more restaurants are on slotted to be in the works in Dayton and Strongsville, Ohio.

Much like many other restaurants across the country, Condado had to furlough all of its servers, bartenders and support center staff. But Kahn is hoping that his company's sales will be successful enough to bring some of them back to work.

"At this time, we are working diligently to support our restaurants and employees," Kahn said. "Our mission is to drive enough sales through Express Curbside Pick-Up and delivery that we can put some of those employees back to work soon."

As this dynamic situation unfolds, Condado is seeking to continue serving its current communities.

"Condado Tacos is committed to serving the community with our priority being the health and safety of our guests and employees," Kahn said. With over 50% food expenditure provided by restaurants, so we are doing our part in providing essential services to the communities we call home."

In protecting Condado's current staff and customers, the restaurant is running a limited-contact express curbside pickup, here's how it works:

  • Guests order their meals online, by using Condado's website, UberEats or Doordash.
  • Whent he food is ready, the guest will receive a text message with the store's phone number.
  • The guest calls the restaurant when they're outside.
  • A Team member delivers it right to the guest in their car.
