In a time when we can't all gather around a table, we can still come together as a community. We're Open Indy is a partnership between WRTV and our local restaurants and businesses with one goal: getting them through this tough time. Every day, we will help shine a light on the businesses that make up our community by telling their stories and rallying around those who are keeping the grills going, the hospitals running, and the businesses operating.

INDIANAPOLIS — In the right hands rice, fish and a few other ingredients become a delicious dish at Sushi Boss.

Their two Indy area locations are both open for takeout and delivery. From traditional rolls to rolls in bowls, it's a quick take for about $9 or $10.

"Our takeout and delivery has exceeded expectations since we started our own app," Jason Hornberger, owner of Sushi Boss, said. "All the third-party services too are helping out with waiving delivery fees for customers on some nights."

But, let's say you'd like to try your hand at making a few rolls yourself or with the kids, Jason and his crew have put together a take-home sushi kit now available at Sushi Boss.

"I've got two young kids at home as well. So I started looking online for kits I could buy for my family," Hornberger said. "I thought, 'Why not make our own?' Great way to pass the time and it's dinner as well."

The California roll kit comes with enough to make four. There's perfectly cooked rice (the sushi part), the nori (that's a seaweed wrapper), cucumber sticks sliced to fit just right, crab legs, cooked too, avocado, pickled ginger and wasabi as well.

To become a true sushi master it takes nearly 10 years of training to learn proper knife skills, rice cooking techniques and fish selection.

Sushi Boss has locations downtown, also out at Keystone at the Crossing.
