INDIANAPOLIS — Museum and zoo members in Central Indiana impacted by COVID-19 will have several options once the facilities reopen.

The Children’s Museum of Indianapolis is allowing members to request an update to their expiration date, which will restore your remaining balance impacted by the museum’s closure.

“We are encouraging members to support the museum’s mission and our ability to continue to operate a world-class facility, by foregoing an extension of their expiration date, and by continuing to renew their membership,” said Kim Harms Robinson, director of media and public relations for the Children’s Museum of Indianapolis.

The Indianapolis Zoo sent an email to members last month with a similar message.

“You won’t lose any time on your year of adventure—all current memberships, including those purchased or renewed since March 17, 2020, will be automatically extended for the number of days the zoo is closed,” read the email. “That date adjustment will be processed after we reopen—you don’t need to do anything.”

Conner Prairie is extending memberships by the number of days we remain closed.

“This extension will be in the form of a grace period, whereby you will be permitted to visit beyond your expiration date as if your membership is still active,” read an email to members. “Note that your expiration date will not change and we will not be issuing new cards, but you will still be able to visit for the number of days that were lost during our closure. You do not need to do anything to take advantage of this. It will apply automatically.”.

Conner Prairie is asking members to consider the following:

  • Renew your membership. Keeping your membership active ensures vital resources continue to come in to take care of our essential needs.
  • Donate your days missed due to our closure. A simple way you can support our work is to continue to renew your membership on schedule and consider these closed days as a donation.
  • Upgrade your membership level. Do you have a basic membership? Consider our plus options. Are you already at a plus level? Take a look at our Mission Impact donor levels [join.connerprairie.org]. Have you previously been a donor? Consider increasing your gift - even by a small amount.
