INDIANAPOLIS — The NFL has named Indianapolis Colts kicker Adam Vinatieri the AFC Special Teams Player of the Week for Week 8 of the 2018 season.

Vinatieri has now earned the distinction of "Player of the Week" 19 times in his career, which is the most by any kicker in NFL history, according to the Colts.

The recognition comes after Vinatieri converted three field goals for nine points to propel the Colts into their win over the Denver Broncos this past weekend 15-13. That included his 51-yard field goal that was hit with 22 seconds remaining in the fourth quarter that pushed them over the top. He also had a 55-yard field goal at the end of the second quarter that tied for the second-longest field goal in his career, the Colts said.

Vinatieri is the third Colts player to earn AFC Player of the Week honors this season, joining defensive end Justin Houston and quarterback Jacoby Brissett.
