INDIANAPOLIS -- Indianapolis Colts quarterback Andrew Luck hit the practice field on Wednesday for the first time since having surgery on his right shoulder earlier this year.

Since his shoulder surgery in January, Luck has missed all of the Colts' offseason workouts, all of training camp, the preseason and the first four weeks of the regular season.

Wednesday afternoon, after nine months away, Luck threw his first (public) pass on the field as he joined the team for practice.

It is still unclear whether Luck will take the field when the Colts take on the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday.

The Colts take on the Tennessee Titans next Monday night and then they'll be home again against the Jacksonville Jaguars the following week.
