Pacers lose Lance Stephenson to Charlotte Hornets

INDIANAPOLIS - The Pacers' Lance Stephenson has signed a 3-year deal with a North Carolina team.

According to ESPN's Chris Broussard, Stephenson accepted the 3-year deal to play for the Charlotte Hornets for $27 million.

The deal was reportedly signed early Wednesday after Hornets owner Michael Jordan, general manger Rich Cho and coach Steve Clifford met up with Stephenson and his crew Tuesday in Las Vegas.

The contract comes with a team option for the final season.

ESPN reports the Pacers put an offer on the table for a five-year, $44-million contract in early July, but Stephenson rejected the offer, reportedly because he felt he was worth more.

Indiana's social media erupted when the information was let loose.
