MIDDLETOWN— The Shenandoah High School Boys Basketball Team is shooting for a state championship.

But to stay alive in the tournament, the Raiders have to get by Linton-Stockton in a semi-state game Saturday at Seymour.

At 26-1, the Henry County school is already enjoying its best season in 18 years.

Veteran Coach Dave McCollough is in his fourth season at Shenandoah and it's been nothing but success: At least 20 wins each year, three sectional titles, and now a regional crown.

"From day one, the kids came in and they bought into what we're doing." he said. "They listened to what we asked of them, as much as teenage kids can do that, and so, they've been wonderful and it's worked out well."

There are just two seniors on the Raiders, but they've been part of a run that's added up to 88 wins in four years.

"It started in June when we played a whole season in a month, said senior guard Evan Coers. "We knew we had to trust each other. We're well-balanced, everybody can shoot. We know if we move the ball and run out sets, shoot the way we can. we're fine."

A supporting cast of talented underclassmen has put Shenandoah in the running for a state championship.

"We've also been playing together forever," said junior forward Peyton Starks. "When we were 7th and 8th graders, they would practice with us, whenever we were in high school. We've been around this maturity for awhile and that's what we've come to have."

Shenandoah went to the finals in 1981, but lost to eventual State Champion Vincennes Lincoln.

This year's team knows there's room on the wall for a major trophy.
