USA Gymnastics names former NBA Vice President, Li Li Leung, as new CEO

INDIANAPOLIS — USA Gymnastics announced its new chief executive officer hire as former National Basketball Association Vice President Li Li Leung on Tuesday.

The organization released a statement on their website of the newly-appointed president and CEO.

In a message to the USA Gymnastics community, Leung acknowledges the scandal-ridden past of the organization and expresses her commitment to move them forward.

As we all know, USA Gymnastics is at a critical turning point, and we now have the opportunity to look forward and to move forward. I have the experience, commitment, determination, and perspective to do what it takes to rebuild the organization and I want to help lead this transformation, to rebuild the community’s trust in and credibility of USA Gymnastics.

Leung has an extensive history with gymnastics, according to the statement. Beginning her career at the age of 7 and competing well into her college years, where she won several Big 10 titles at the University of Michigan.

Leung will be the fourth leader of the national governing body for gymnastics in the U.S., in two years.
