INDIANAPOLIS — It was a violent overnight in Indianapolis with three people shot and one killed in just a four hour period.

The first shooting was deadly and happened just after 9 p.m. on the city's southeast side.

Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department officers were called to the 1800 block of Winfield Avenue for a report of a person shot. When they arrived, they found a man in a vehicle a short distance away with an apparent gunshot wound. That man was pronounced dead at the scene. Witnesses told officers that a disturbance between two men escalated until one of them shot at the other as he fled in a vehicle. That man then crashed into a parked vehicle up the road. The man who shot the other man stayed at the scene and is cooperating with detectives, according to IMPD

The second shooting happened just after 11 p.m. Tuesday and left a teen in critical condition.

IMPD officers responded to the 1700 block of Talbott Street for a report of a person shot. When they arrived, officers found a teen male inside a residence with an apparent gunshot wound. The teen was taken to Eskenazi Hospital in Critical Condition. No details surrounding that shooting have been released.

The third shooting happened around 2 a.m. Wednesday.

The victim told police he heard a knock on his door and answered. Sometime during the conversation that followed, the person outside shot at the window of the home and struck the victim in the hip. Police are unclear on the circumstances surrounding the shooting, but they believe the victim and the suspect had some sort of relationship.
