INDIANAPOLIS — Tuesday, November 12 wasn't just cold and snowy, it broke a record that has been in place for over a century.
The record for the coldest temperature on November 12 in Indianapolis was set in 1911 at 14°.
That record broke at 4 a.m. when temperatures in Indianapolis hit 13 degrees, but the temps didn't stop dropping there. By 7:30 a.m. the temperature was down to just 8°.

Around 6:50 a.m. the National Weather Service recorded another broken record. November 12, 2019 is now officially the earliest day of the season that a single-digit reading has fallen into the single digits. Temps at 6:50 a.m. dropped to just 9°. Before this year, the earliest single-digit reading in the Fall for Indianapolis was on Nov. 17, 1959 when the low reached 4°.
If that seems unseasonably cold, you're right. The National Weather Service says the average low for November 12 in Indianapolis is 37° (that's not even freezing) and the average high is 54°.

November 12 wasn't the only record-breaking day this week, though. A record was broken on November 11 that was set nearly 25 years ago. On November 11, 1995, 1.2 inches of snow fell in Indianapolis — on November 11, 2019, that record became 2.8 inches of snow.
