Thousands without power after storms move through the area

INDIANAPOLIS — A tornado watch was in effect for several counties in Central Indiana on Wednesday night.

The watch was issued around 7:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Below are updates of the storms.

11:20 p.m.

10:57 p.m.
There are reports of several snapped poles in Hamilton County. If you have to drive tonight, make sure you are being careful and don't drive over downed lines.

10:56 p.m.
As of 10:45 p.m., more than 100,000 Duke and IPL customers are without power.

There is storm damage reported at Water and Jefferson streets in downtown Franklin. Trees and power lines down are being reported in Johnson County.

Wednesday night's storms caused significant damage in Mooresville. Part of at least one building collapsed.

Significant damage reported in Franklin.

The tornado watch for Bartholomew, Brown, Daviess, Decatur, Hancock, Henry, Jackson, Jennings, Johnson, Lawrence, Martin, Monroe, Randolph, Rush, and Shelby counties has been canceled.

Close to 100,000 Duke Energy and IPL customers without power due to tonight’s storm.

About 76,000 Duke Energy customers are without power for the entire state, but highest concentration is in Hamilton County with about 33,000 without power. You can view the Duke Energy outage map here.

IPL has just under 22,000 customers without power in Marion County. You can view the IPL outage map here.
