INDIANAPOLIS -- The month of May is off to a warm start, and boy do we deserve it!  April 2018 goes in the books as the month winter just wouldn't end.  Officially, we settle for the 8th coldest April, and thanks to 2.6" of snow, the 10th snowiest April on record.

Now that we're into May, it feels like summer is taking over.  The outlook from the Climate Prediction Center suggests you can leave out the shorts and flip flops.  Above average temperatures are expected to be the rule across Central Indiana and the Midwest.  Our average high climbs into the mid and upper 70s to round out the month.

We're getting into what's typically a soggy time of year for us.  The month of May averages about 5" of rain.  Odds are we could see a little more than that over NW Indiana.  However, the Climate Prediction Center's outlook is a little less clear for much of Indiana.  The call is "equal chances" of above or below average rainfall.

Now, all we have to do is keep rain away for the Indy 500!
