INDIANAPOLIS — Is your yard soaked from recent rain? It's been a soggy late winter and early spring across Central Indiana. Rainfall in Indianapolis is nearly five inches above average for the year! With that, we'll take the dry days where we can get them. Unfortunately, another round of rainy days is coming our way.

The wet weather returns Thursday evening, and while we'll have some breaks, rain chances continue into the weekend. Weather models suggest much of the area could receive one and a half to two inches of rain by Saturday night. With the possibility of some storms Saturday, totals in excess of three inches aren't out of the question.

That much rain on already waterlogged ground could cause some flooding problems. By Friday, the Weather Prediction Center outlines a Marginal Risk of excessive rainfall across the area. This means isolated flash flooding is possible.

With the exception of a few southern and western spots, most Central Indiana rivers are within their banks. That's good news, but it's likely that will change. Below are river level forecasts for spots along the White River. Minor river flooding is expected to develop over the weekend and into early next week.

Keep in mind that even after the rain stops, rivers continue to rise and can be slow to fall.

StormTeam 6 will keep you updated on any flooding threats that may develop over the coming days.
