We have certainly had our share of April showers. On more than half of the days this month, we've picked up at least a trace of rain. That's added up to more than 3" of wet weather for the Circle City.

Our active pattern shows no signs of slowing down. Truecast below shows the rounds of rain coming our way between now and the end of the month.

More wet weather to round out April

While the saying goes, "April showers bring May flowers," in our case, they also bring more rain. We're just getting into what is typically our wettest stretch of the year. May leads all other months, as we average more than 5" of rain. Of course, that's the month we need as much dry weather as we can get leading up to the Indy 500. Getting in those summer outdoor activities can also be a challenge in Central Indiana with June and July both picking up more than 4" of rainfall.

It's too early to say if we'll come in above or below these average numbers. However, an already busy start to our "wet season" means any additional rains down the road could come with enhanced flooding concerns. That's especially true, if our breaks between rounds of rain are short.
