Six Indianapolis wine festivals to visit this summer

INDIANAPOLIS – Thursday is National Wine Day and if you need an excuse to say “bottoms up,” you won’t have to travel far to get your fix. Indianapolis and the surrounding communities have an extensive lineup of wine festivals this summer.

Choose one to attend – or challenge yourself to visit each.

Here are six wine festivals in the Indianapolis area to visit this summer:

Vintage Indiana Wine & Food Festival

June 3 at Military Park in downtown Indy

Noon – 6 p.m.

Indiana wineries will offer samples of more than 200 award-winning wines and the first 10,000 people to arrive will receive a free wine glass.

Strawberry Festival

June 3 (noon – 9 p.m.)-June 4 (noon – 6 p.m.)

Mallow Run Winery

This annual event celebrates all things strawberry – including wine and enormous strawberry shortcakes.

Wine Walk 2017

June 16 at Public Square in Shelbyville

5:30-10 p.m.

The event will feature 11 Indiana wineries including: Butler Winery, Easley Winery, Buck Creek Winery and others.

Art of Wine

July 15 in the Carmel Arts & Design District

5-10 p.m.

Guests are able to participate in the wine tasting or purchase their own by the glass or bottle.

WAMMfest

August 19 at Craig Park in Greenwood

Beginning at 11 a.m.

This Greenwood festival features a great variety of wines, art, music and beer while giving back to support youth and community organizations.

Noblesville Brewfest and Wine Garden

September 23 at Forest Park in Noblesville

3-7 p.m.

Over 250 brews will be available for sampling and several wines will also be offered. The event will also include food vendors, a silent auction and corn hole contests.
