WHITESTOWN, Ind. -- The Whitestown Town Council has unanimously appointed Matthew Sumner as its new clerk treasurer.
The decision comes after Call 6 Investigates uncovered former clerk treasurer Amanda Andrews stopped showing up to work due to a full-time, private sector position.

Andrews resigned at a council meeting in December, but her official last day on the job is February 26.
Sources tell Call 6 Investigates Andrews has regularly not shown up for her elected position during town hall hours since October.

At a special meeting Wednesday night, the Whitestown Town Council heard presentations from three final candidates and unanimously appointed Matt Sumner, who has a background in purchasing.
Sumner was defeated by Andrews in the November 2015 election.
He was sworn in Wednesday night.
