INDIANAPOLIS -- Students and staff in the MSD of Wayne Township are trying to come to grips with the deaths of a teacher and a student, in separate accidents, in one day.

18-year-old Frank Wilson, Jr. died after a car accident late Wednesday night on Indianapolis' west side.

Police were dispatched to the intersection of  W. 10th Street and Whitcomb Avenue shortly before 11 p.m.

Wilson was a passenger in a car that was t-boned by a pickup truck, according to officers.

Wilson was taken to the hospital in critical condition and he later died. The drivers of the car and truck were hospitalized in good condition.

Investigators say they believe the pickup was headed west on 10th Street when a car, headed east on 10th, turned in front of the truck to go north on Whitcomb Avenue.

The truck wasn't able to avoid a collision and hit the car.  Investigators do not believe alcohol or drugs played a role in the accident.

According to the MSD of Wayne Township Facebook page, Wilson was a senior at Ben Davis High School and a leader in the BDHS Marine Corps JROTC.

Superintendent Dr. Jeff Butts says counselors will be at Ben Davis on Friday to help any students or staff who need support.

MSD of Wayne Township suffered another loss Wednesday morning when Erika Wells, A kindergarten teacher at Rhoades Elementary, was killed when the bike she was riding was hit by a box truck.
