INDIANAPOLIS -- An Indianapolis kindergarten teacher was killed in a crash Wednesday morning.

Erika Wells, 38, was a teacher at Rhoades Elementary, part of Wayne Township Schools.

Wells was riding a bicycle when she was hit by a box truck around 9:30 a.m., near the intersection of County Line Road and State Road 37.

Wells was pronounced dead at the scene.

In a Facebook post, MSD of Wayne Township said grief counselors will be available Thursday for staff and students.

Investigators say she was heading north on S.R. 37 in the shoulder when she was struck by the truck heading the same direction. Police believe the truck may have left the roadway.

Police have not determined the cause of the crash but they say alcohol does not appear to be a factor.

The driver was not arrested and is cooperating with investigators.

The MSD of Wayne Township suffered another loss Wednesday night when Ben Davis student,  Frank Wilson, Jr., was killed in a car accident.

Police say the car Wilson was a passenger in was t-boned by a pickup truck at 10th Street and Whitcomb Avenue on Indianapolis' west side.
