INDIANAPOLIS – Although thousands of IPS students are on fall break, the district continues to feed children in need of meals.
Children in Indianapolis, whether an IPS student or not, can eat free breakfast and lunch at nearly 25 city locations including the Haughville Branch Public Library, Martin Luther King Community Center and Stratford Apartments.
“We hope to reach more children by bringing our food bus to highly visible areas within the community,” said IPS Foodservice Director Dena Bond. “We encourage families to come visit any of our sites for a hot, healthy meal featuring fresh fruits and vegetables to keep students energized for their Fall Break activities.”
The district’s Bus Stop Café is also scheduled to park at specific city locations like the Irvington Library, where children can pick up meals.
"There are so many children that without the meals being provided, would not have a meal to eat when school is out,” said Tammy Hawkins-Williams of IPS Food Services.
Meals will be provided for those ages 18 and under through October 13.
