INDIANAPOLIS -- Irma is pounding the Florida coast now but as what's left of the storm makes its way into the Ohio Valley we could see some much-needed rain in parts of central Indiana.
While it's unusual for a tropical system to hold together across the Appalachian Mountains, that doesn't mean some of the remnants won't carry up through the U.S.
If Irma stays on track now, we could see some scattered showers as early as Tuesday.

The current forecast has clouds increasing Monday evening with scattered showers developing Tuesday and sticking around through Thursday. Winds are expected to be a bit breezy but gusts should stay below 30 mph.

The best chances for rain will come the farther south and east you go but some of those could trickle their way up. The rainfall will likely be light, but much needed in central Indiana which has been running "abnormally dry."

Once Irma pulls away from Indiana, we should start to see temperatures rise into the mid-80s for the weekend.
