Inmate found unresponsive, dies in Marion County Jail

INDIANAPOLIS – An inmate who was found unresponsive at a Marion County jail later died in his cell Friday evening.

Officers found Nicholas Grant, 27, unresponsive in his cell at Marion County Jail II at 9:52 p.m. He was pronounced dead at 10:34 p.m.

A death investigation is being conducted by Indianapolis police, the Marion County Sheriff’s Office, the Marion County Coroner's Office, the Marion County Forensic Services Agency, and the Marion County Office.

The preliminary indications show the death was not the result of violence or suicide, police said.

Grant was being held on charges of resisting law enforcement, disorderly conduct and criminal conduct.
