INDIANAPOLIS -- Last year was a record-breaking year for the Crime Stoppers tipline. And with a steady climb of homicides this year, police are looking for tips to help solve the crimes.
Charles Carvin said he called Crime Stoppers twice Saturday, with no answer. He says he couldn't leave a message.
He was trying to leave a tip about the man suspected of killing a popular little league umpire, Ryan Goss, on July 30.

Carvin said he saw somebody who looked like the suspect's photo, so he called Crime Stoppers at 317-262-TIPS.
He remained on the line through a voice recording, waiting to leave his tip.
But Carvin said he never was able to talk to a person or leave a message.
"It's discouraging wanting to leave a tip, then trying to and you can't," he said.
"I don't like the feeling the system failed me," Carvin said. "You know, the system didn't work."
Crime Stoppers and the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department said they're looking into the incident and are working to make sure this does not happen again.
