INDIANAPOLIS -- The man who cut an Indianapolis police officer with a knife was located and taken in for medical treatment Wednesday afternoon.

Tyshune Neely, who was declared mentally unstable by police, was taken into custody by IMPD’s Behavioral Health Unit and transported to Eskenazi Health for treatment.

The injury to the officer happened while police were searching for Neely Tuesday evening.

According to IMPD, the officer, Justin Callahan, was at a Neely's home taking a statement from his mother when he appeared on his front porch and swung a kitchen knife at the officer.

The officer was able to deflect the attack and the Neely ran from the scene.
