MUNCIE, Ind. -- Nearly 38 years after he went missing, police have matched skeletal remains found in Freedom, Indiana, to Freddy Faussett Jr.

Faussett, a Muncie native, was last seen on March 11, 1980. He was 25 years old at the time of his disappearance.

Despite years of searching, Faussett was never found.

In March 1999, human remains were discovered near Freedom – but a positive identification was never able to be made.

Earlier this month, police say the Owen County coroner was finally able to make a partial match identifying the skeletal remains as those of Faussett.

Faussett’s disappearance was one of the oldest remaining missing persons cases in the state.
