BLOOMINGTON, Ind. -- One man was killed and a second victim was critically wounded in a fight on Bloomington’s west side early Monday morning.

Bloomington police were called to the 2400 block of West 3rd Street at 2:46 a.m. Monday on a report of a fight in progress and a male lying on the ground.

Officers arrived to find a man in his 20s suffering from multiple stab wounds. He was transported to IU Health Bloomington Hospital, where he was pronounced dead a short time later.

Police said the victim had not yet been identified.

A second victim, also in his 20s, was located in the 500 block of Basswood Drive suffering from multiple stab wounds. Medics transported him to the hospital in critical condition. Police said he was uncooperative with investigators.

Police believe both victims, along with several other males, were involved in a fight in the 2500 block of West 3rd Street. Investigators believe the victims and suspects knew each other.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact the Bloomington Police Department at 812-339-4477.
