INDOT crews to reopen I-65 ahead of schedule

INDIANAPOLIS -- Indiana Department of Transportation announced that I-65 will completely reopen by Saturday morning.

Construction crews are expecting the southbound lanes to reopen around 6 p.m. Friday, with the northbound lanes expected reopen by 6 a.m. Saturday.

If American Contracting & Services can complete the work and open all of I-65 before midnight on Saturday, they will get a $50,000 bonus, according to INDOT.

INDOT closed I-65 between Meridian Street and 21st Street at the beginning of July to repair seven bridges. 

Crews were expecting to complete the construction by Aug. 5.
