One person killed in fiery crash on Indianapolis' east side

INDIANAPOLIS -- At least one person was killed in a fiery crash at a busy intersection on Indianapolis east side Friday evening. 

The crash happened near the intersection of East 10th Street and North Emerson Drive just before 6 p.m. 

Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department officers say one person was killed in the crash. Their identity has not been released. 

Witnesses say several bystanders rushed to help the victim after the crash but they were unable to get them out of the vehicle before the flames overtook it. 

The crash remains under investigation by the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department.
