INDIANAPOLIS — Sunday evening capped off a violent 72 hours across Indianapolis with more than a dozen people shot across the city.
Police are still searching for suspects in many of those incidents.
The violence began Friday morning around 11:30 a.m. when officers responded to a shooting in the 4500 block of N. Kitley Avenue where a person was found suffering from at least one gunshot wound. That person, whose name has not been released, later died at the hospital.

Roughly three hours later, Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department officers responded to the 3600 block of N. Post Road for a person shot. That person was transported to the hospital in serious condition.
Then just after 8:15 p.m. IMPD Flex Team officers were performing a traffic stop in the 8500 block of E. 42nd Street when they say a passenger inside the vehicle showed a gun. That passenger, later identified as Deshon Downing, 45, was shot and died from his injuries. The circumstances surrounding the shooting remain under investigation at this time. The three officers involved in the shooting have all been placed on administrative leave pending the results of that investigation, which is standard procedure for any officer-involved shooting.

Between 9 p.m. and 11 pm. Friday evening officers worked four other shootings that left five people injured, some critical.
Officers were called to the 1400 block of County Line Road around 9 p.m. for a juvenile that had been shot. Police say the teen was taken to the hospital in critical condition, no new updates have been released at this time.
A short time later officers were called to the 7800 block of Dagwood drive for another person who had been shot. That victim was taken to the hospital in critical condition as well.
Then at 10 p.m. officers were called to the 2800 block of N. Graham Avenue for two people shot. The two victims were taken to the hospital in an unknown condition but they were listed as stable Friday evening. Police say their condition has not changed as of Monday afternoon.

The final shooting Friday evening was reported in the 1700 block of Senate Boulevard. That's where police found the victim suffering from a gunshot wound. That person was taken to the hospital in an unknown condition. Investigators later determined that the shooting happened in the 5600 block of Emerson Avenue.
Saturday was quite across Indianapolis, but early Sunday morning the violence reared up again with a shooting first reported outside businesses on Massachusetts Avenue just after 2 a.m. Responding officers found a man suffering from at least one gunshot wound and that victim was pronounced dead at the scene. His identity has not been released at this time.
Just after 2:30 a.m. another gunshot victim showed up at Community East Hospital. The victim had non-life threatening injuries. Investigators later determined that the victim's wounds were related to the shooting on Massachusetts Avenue, although the circumstances surrounding those shootings have not been released.

Just after 4:30 a.m. officers responded to the 600 block of N. Eastern Avenue for another shooting victim. A female was found suffering from at least one gunshot wound at the scene and was taken to the hospital in an unknown condition. The circumstances surrounding her shooting have not been released.
Sunday evening police responded a a possible shooting in the 1300 block of N. Gale Road. Responding officers found a victim suffering a "minor" injury from a shooting.

Then around 7 p.m. officers responded to a wooded area near an elementary school in the 5700 block of S. Brill Road for a report of a teen that had been shot. The teen was taken to the hospital in critical condition. Investigators later determined that the teen was the victim of an accidental shooting after someone had dropped a gun and it went off. At this time no charges have been filed.
Capping off the violent weekend IMPD officers responded to the 3400 block of N. High School Road for another report of two people who had been shot. Responding officers found a man and a woman suffering gunshot wounds at the scene. The two were taken to the hospital with what were believed to be non-life threatening injuries.
