SEYMOUR — A Jackson county teenager is fighting for his life after he was shot by his grandmother in what police are calling an attempted murder-suicide.

The shooting happened around 5 p.m. Monday on South Walnut Street in Seymour.

Police say 68-year-old Wanda Huber shot her 16-year-old grandson before turning the gun on herself.

Huber was pronounced dead at the scene. The teen was airlifted to a Louisville hospital to be treated for life-threatening injuries.

Police say the boy lived with his grandmother.

The circumstances surrounding the shooting remain under investigation.
