An Indianapolis man was robbed at gunpoint Thursday morning outside the west side Popeye's restaurant where a 14-year-old boy was killed last month.

The robbery occurred just before 11 a.m. in the parking lot of the Popeye's restaurant at 3021 W. 16th Street.

According to the victim, a 45-year-old man, the suspect produced a large silver and black gun before proceeding to rob him.

The victim wasn't harmed in the robbery.

The parking lot is the same one where 14-year-old Anthony Lee Hughes Jr. was shot and killed late last month.

Sources close to the investigation told Call 6 Investigates that Hughes may have been attempting to sell a firearm at the time of the shooting.

As of Thursday, police had not made an arrest in Hughes' death.

His family has called for justice for Hughes, and an end to violence on the streets.

"They need to stop all this violence. Whatever the situation was, it's not worth nobody losing their life. When I was growing up, we would fight and live another day. Now, they just want to shoot, shoot, shoot. For what? Why?" said Shaherah Melissa Smith, Anthony's mother.

If you have any information about either incident, you're asked to contact Crime Stoppers at 317-262-TIPS. Calls may remain anonymous.
