INDIANAPOLIS -- With extreme heat predicted for Central Indiana over the weekend, it's best to be prepared.
The National Weather Service has issued a heat advisory from 10 a.m. Friday to 8 p.m. Sunday.
High temperatures are expected in the lower to middle 90's, with the heat index between 105 and 109 degrees.

City and county officials say they will monitor the weather and activate the emergency "extreme heat plan" if necessary.
Under the plan, parks facilities and community centers will have extended hours.
Temporary shelters and cooling centers will open, and there will be additional community outreach to provide assistance to residents.
IMPD Homeland Security wants to make sure everyone takes these precautions:
- Drink more water than usual
- Avoid alcohol and drinks with high amounts of sugar
- Limit extraneous activity or exercise
- Stay inside in A/C as much as possible
- Get cool at libraries, shopping centers and community centers

Companies that do work outdoors are also being encouraged to protect employees by taking the following steps:
- Have a work-site plan to prevent heat-related illnesses
- Make sure medical services are available to respond to an emergency
- Allow workers to take frequent breaks to cool off
And don't forget your pets. Indianapolis Animal Care and Control says limit their activity, and make sure they have clean, fresh water.

The Indianapolis Indians want to make sure fans stay hydrated while they're watching the team play ball, so they're allowing bottled water to be brought into Victory Field from Thursday, July 21 through Sunday, July 24.
Bottled water containers must be 20 oz. or smaller. All coolers are not permitted in the seating bowl and will still be required to stay in the Ivy Tech Lawn seating area of the ballpark.
