FISHERS, Ind. -- A central Indiana mother says two men started following her and her daughter while they were shopping for groceries and she's sharing her story to warn other parents before something bad happens.

Kelly Lohrman said she was shopping with her 10-year-old daughter at the Kroger at 116th Street and Cumberland Road on Thursday when they both noticed two men who were acting strangely near them. She says the men started following them at different times and through different aisles in the store.

"He was waiting - the other guy walked up and the guy waiting whispered something under his breath. The other guy quickly responded," said Lohrman. "As soon as we got out of the aisle, my daughter said, 'Mommy, something is wrong.' I said, 'yea, there is something going on, I don't know what it is.'"

Lohrman said she felt uneasy and walked to a different aisle to get away from the men, which is when they split up. One of the two men wasn't carrying any groceries and remained close to them as they shopped.

"We were at the front side and he was at the back side. Every time we passed an aisle, he would pass. If we stepped back, he would step back. He was just mirroring everything we did," said Lohrman.

The situation made them both feel so uncomfortable that they went to the self-checkout area and called the police. Lohrman says while she was making that call, one of the men stood at the register next to them checking out and then other man walked out without buying anything.

"My daughter was really upset and almost frightened to go anywhere," said Lohrman. "I decided to just call 911. I didn't want it to be something that got looked over again."

Lohrman said she's seen other women post about similar incidents at that store, and although Fishers police could not find any reports they say its likely that because no crime had actually been committed, one might not have been filed.

Police say it's tough to know another person's intention, but Lohrman followed all of the right steps to make sure she and her daughter got out of the store safely.

Lohrman says she just hopes her story will help other women to pay attention to their surroundings and report anything suspicious they might see.

"If another woman happens to hear my story, take that and finds herself in the same situation, she finds the courage to call the cops and get the people involved who need to get involved," said Lohrman.

A Kroger spokesperson says the safety of customers is a priority in their stores and the Fishers Police Department has the full cooperation of the store's security team.
