INDIANAPOLIS -- July has begun so it's time to dive into the outlook and see what kind of weather we're going to be dealing with this month.

In short, get ready for lots of heat.

At least that's the outlook for Indiana from the Climate Prediction Center, which says the hot temperatures coming our way to start the month are likely to be enough to hold us above average, even as some moderation is expected later in July.

Our average temperatures really don't move much, though. The average high goes from 85° on the first to 84° on the 31st, and our average low holds at 66° all month long.

Once again, the rainfall projections aren't as certain for the month of July.

At this point, we stand the same chance of having near, below or above average rainfall.  That means we'll have to take the wet weather one week at a time.

July is typically one of our wetter months for Indiana, though, and we tend to average about four and a half inches of rain.

Possibly the most important forecast all month if for fireworks displays on the 4th of July.

It's typically pretty toasty for the holiday - but the hottest Fourth of July ever goes to 1911. That year, Indiana's highs reached 103 degrees.

This year doesn't look to be quite that hot, but it will be toasty.  Highs in the lower 90s will combine with plenty of humidity for heat index numbers to again climb near 100 degrees.

And right now, rain chances look pretty slim.
