INDIANAPOLIS -- Some workers at Indianapolis’ Rexnord plant spent their weekend taking apart equipment that would be shipped south.
Sources tell RTV6 Investigates that electricians and maintenance workers were told to dismantle and prepare several pieces of equipment to be shipped in preparation for the plant’s June closing.
Rexnord is looking to save $15.5 million from its Indianapolis plant by moving those 350 production jobs to Mexico and Texas.
As part of their severance package, the company has offered workers a one-time payment of $500 and one week pay for every two years of service they have with the company.
Talks between the union and Rexnord are expected to resume this week.

On Sunday, some of those workers attended a vigil at Mount Olive Ministries on the city’s west side along with Carrier employees to pray for a Christmas miracle.
Carrier is still planning to move over 500 jobs to its Monterrey, Mexico plant by the end of 2017.
