AVON, Ind. -- A Silver Alert for a missing 25-year-old man from Avon has been canceled after police say he was located at the hospital being treated as the victim of a hit-and-run.

The alert was issued early Thursday after family members reported that Meron Gebreslasie had not been seen since Monday.

Avon Police Department officials say they found Gebreslasie at Eskenazi Hospital Thursday afternoon. He told police he was hit by a vehicle Tuesday evening. He was being treated for a broken leg, but police say he is otherwise fine.
