MUNCIE — A Muncie woman is making a renewed plea for someone out there to help solve her brother's murder.

The murder of 31-year-old, Kobi Walden, is still unsolved to this day.

The body of the roller derby coach was found in a wooded area in the south side of Indianapolis, nearly two years ago.

He had been shot and killed.

"He didn't deserve it. He didn't deserve to die — he didn't deserve to die that way," Walden's sister, Kala Klein said.

Klein and her brother were close.

"I would bring him to Walmart and he would talk to some random stranger about what kind of day they were having — it's just the kind of person he was," she said.

His infectious personality and kindness to strangers made understanding the violent end to his life more difficult.

That's what's driving her to seek more media attention for her brother's case — the hope that someone will remember a seemingly insignificant event that could help police.

"Maybe on May first of 2017, they saw someone in a gas station who looked frazzled.. or just something. Anything that might help," Klein said.

"I lose sleep because I think what if I didn't do enough to bring his killer to justice and they kill someone else," Walden's sister said.

There have been no arrests in her brothers case. The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department homicide clearance rate for 2017 is 46.32%. This means that someone was arrested, charged and turned over to the prosecutors office in 2016 and 2018. The clearance rates topped 60% time and tips to police could change that.

"I hope that we can bring this person to justice. Get them off the streets, because who knows when they'll strike again," Klein said.

Now, she hopes enough time has passed that if someone knows who killed her brother they're ready to come forward.

"If you don't start speaking and talking about it," she said, "it's going to continue to happen, so please come forward."

If you have any idea who killed Kobi Walden on May 2, 2017 — or if you just remember seeing something strange on that day — you're asked to call metro police.
