Hotel Tango distillery’s cat Fletcher Pickles died unexpectedly Sunday in an accident, the business announced on social media.

Fletcher the cat has been a fixture at the Fletcher Place business since it opened in 2014. He was so tied to the business that his birthday was celebrated each year to coincide with Hotel Tango’s opening.

Fletcher was also, in addition to being popular with patrons, the emotional service animal for one of Hotel Tango’s owners.

He even earned some screen time in October with a feature on RTV6.

Fletcher was frequently the subject of posts on Hotel Tango’s Facebook page – unfortunately, this week’s appearance took a tragic turn.

On Monday, Hotel Tango announced Fletcher had passed away after accidentally falling off the roof of the building.

“One of Fletcher's favorite spots was Hotel Tango's roof,” the business wrote. “On Sunday, January 28th, Fletcher was sitting on his favorite corner of the roof, overlooking his kingdom. In a freak accident, he lost his footing and passed away from the injuries sustained.”

Hotel Tango said Fletcher’s loss is a tremendous blow to the business.

“Fletcher was tremendously special to all of us at Hotel Tango,” the business wrote. “He made us smile every day with his antics and big personality. We know he had the same impact on our guests, and we want to thank everyone who has ever visited Hotel Tango just to see our little guy.”

Hotel Tango will have a memory book available for guests to share their favorite memories of Fletcher, and will also host a give-back sometime in the next week to donate to a local animal organization in Fletcher’s name.
