Nearly 150 to lose jobs when book distribution facility on Indianapolis' northwest side shuts down

INDIANAPOLIS -- Nearly 150 people working at a book distribution facility on Indianapolis' northwest side will be out of a job by late August.

ReaderLink Distribution Services, located in the 5000 block of W. 79th Street, notified the Indiana Department of Workforce Development on Wednesday it anticipates being closed permanently on August 31.

147 workers at the facility should start receiving layoff notices on May 4.

According to its website, ReaderLink is the largest full-service distributor of hardcover, trade and paperback books to non-trade channel bookstores in North America.

The company is based in Oak Brook, Illinois.

Indianapolis has one of four ReaderLink distribution centers with the others being located in Salem, Virginia; Romeoville, Illinois; and Clearfield, Utah.
