INDIANAPOLIS -- Three companies in Indianapolis are helping to feed thousands of kids a day for every day of the year.

As one in seven people worldwide go hungry, they're trying to do their part to battle the world hunger crisis.

Monday afternoon, volunteers at the Fed Ex hub bagged food for children in Africa. The food went to help children like Tracson, Mwaka and Owen.

"We should pack a semi truck that will allow us to feed 1,580 children for a year," said Judy Kendall of Anchor of Hope Charities.

Kendall has been to Zambia more than 40 times, so she knows the people she's trying to help. Rise Against Hunger is an organization that helps collect food then distribute it to other organizations, like Anchor of Hope Charities.

"We're working with 10,000 kids in rural Zambia," Kendall said. "They're coming to school, getting lunch, staying in school, and they're healthy. They're getting proper vitamins from this food. They can then focus on school and make a difference on their education."

Hundreds of Zambian children can go to school without the thought of being hungry, thanks to the work of volunteers and Anchor of Hope.

"To think that we can help feed any child that doesn't have a meal is something that is so important to all of us," said Jackie Feldmann, a Fed Ex employee.
