INDIANAPOLIS -- After months -- no, years -- of hype for the 2016 Indianapolis 500, Indianapolis Motor Speedway officials are trying to keep the momentum going for 2017.
"The neat thing about the 500 is it's not just about the first, or the 10th, or the 90th, or the 100th," said Doug Boles, president of Indianapolis Motor Speedway. "It's about something that happens every year -- that's what makes it so special. The guys and women trying to run the 101st will tell you: This is the most important race they've ever run."
Tickets for the 101st Indianapolis 500 went on sale Monday morning. The race will be Sunday, May 28, 2017.
Tickets are available here, and cost $50 for reserved seats, and $40 for general admission.
What's new this year: Children aged 15 and younger will get free general admission, instead of aged 12 and younger.
The reserve seats for the 2016 Indy 500 sold out for the first time in 25 years.

This led to the local blackout to be lifted for the first time in 66 years. There is no indication the blackout will be lifted again in 2017.
"We're hoping to get close to where we were in 2016," Boles said. "A sellout may be a little bit tough to achieve again, but we're certainly going to try. We're excited about the momentum."
